Senator Rubio Co-Sponsors “No Taxpayer Funding For Abortion Act”

May 9, 2011 | Blog

Last week, Senator Rubio co-sponsored the “No Taxpayer Funding For Abortion Act,” which will ensure that taxpayer dollars are never used for the destruction of human life through abortion. The U.S. House of Representatives passed a companion bill last Wednesday.

This bill, introduced by Senator Roger Wicker (R-MS), is a comprehensive approach that will ensure that no federal program is exempt from this prohibition of abortion. It is a simple and straightforward bill that would make law what most Americans believe—taxpayer dollars should not be used for abortions. Senators Rubio and Wicker are joined by 19 other co-sponsors.

Time and time again, similar policies prohibiting taxpayer-funded abortions have been adopted and approved by Congress. This bill simply seeks to codify, in a single federal act, what the public overwhelmingly supports. Last week, Senator Rubio also co-sponsored legislation that targets another potential-source of taxpayer-funded abortions—ObamaCare. Click here to read details on that legislation.
