Senator Marco Rubio Announces New Staff Hires
Washington, DC – U.S. Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) today announced two new hires joining his Washington office staff as of this week. Alberto Martinez is joining as Deputy Chief of Staff and Brooke Sammon as Deputy Press Secretary.
“I’m proud to welcome Albert and Brooke to our team and am excited about the entire staff we have in place for the productive and important year ahead,” said Rubio. “I look forward to the legislative work we’ll be doing in the 113th Congress, including our initiatives to expand middle class opportunities and reform America’s broken immigration system. These new hires will bolster the great team we have to serve the people of Florida and help us advance these important initiatives.”
BACKGROUND ON TODAY’S STAFF HIRE ANNOUNCEMENTS
Alberto Martinez: Martinez is a long serving adviser to Senator Rubio who most recently served as a senior advisor to Senator Rubio’s Reclaim America PAC and the Romney for President campaign. Previously, Martinez served as communications director for the Republican majority during Senator Rubio’s term as speaker of the Florida House. In 2009, he stepped down as chief of staff to the majority whip in the Florida House to work as a senior adviser to Rubio’s Senate campaign. Prior to his work with Rubio, Martinez served as deputy speechwriter for Governor Jeb Bush and Florida communications director for President George W. Bush’s reelection campaign in 2004. Martinez is a native of Miami, Florida.
Brooke Sammon: Sammon is returning to Capitol Hill after previously serving as the press secretary for U.S. Rep. Peter Roskam (R-IL) and U.S. Rep. Phil Gingrey (R-GA). Last year, she worked on the Romney for President campaign, where she directed surrogate media and worked closely with Senator Rubio as he traveled the country on behalf of the Republican ticket. Her experience also includes campaigning for U.S. Rep. Andy Harris (R-MD) and working for former White House Press Secretary Dana Perino. Sammon is a native of Ohio.
