Washington, D.C. — El senador estadounidense Marco Rubio (R-FL) y un grupo de colegas enviaron una carta a la presidenta de la Comisión Federal de Comunicaciones (FCC, por sus siglas en inglés), Jessica Rosenworcel, sobre la venta de 18 estaciones de radio en español, incluyendo la estación conservadora Radio Mambí de Miami, a Latino Media Network (LMN, por sus siglas en inglés). LMN es un grupo recientemente formado, dirigido por activistas demócratas y financiado en parte por el multimillonario izquierdista George Soros.
“Nos preocupa que LMN, como grupo de fachada de reciente creación dirigido por agentes partidistas sin experiencia en la radiodifusión, pueda trabajar para silenciar los puntos de vista políticos con los que sus financistas no están de acuerdo. Si tiene éxito, LMN podría ejercer una influencia prácticamente indiscutible sobre casi un tercio de todos los hispanos en todo el país”, escribieron los legisladores.
Junto a Rubio enviando la misiva estaban los senadores Rick Scott (R-FL) y Tom Cotton (R-AR), así como los representantes Carlos Giménez (R-FL), María Elvira Salazar (R-FL) y Mario Díaz-Balart (R-FL).
