Rubio Welcomes Designation of Temporary Protected Status for Eligible Venezuelan Nationals in the U.S.
Miami, FL — U.S. Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) welcomed the Department of Homeland Security’s designation granting Temporary Protected Status (TPS) to eligible Venezuelan nationals residing in the U.S. for a period of 18 months. Rubio has repeatedly advocated a temporary solution in order to help the many Venezuelan nationals who cannot return home due to the Maduro regime’s man-made crisis. In addition to introducing the Venezuela Temporary Protected Status and Asylum Assistance Act of 2019, Rubio worked closely with the previous administration in order to grant eligible Venezuelan nationals in our nation a temporary solution. This came to fruition earlier in the year when former President Trump granted Deferred Enforced Departure (DED) to eligible Venezuelan nationals in our country.
“Venezuela remains a nation in crisis. I have long advocated providing much-needed relief to help eligible Venezuelan nationals residing in the U.S. with a work permit and a temporary solution, which is exactly what the Trump Administration did earlier this year. I am glad the Biden Administration shares that commitment, and I support granting TPS status to eligible Venezuelan nationals currently in the U.S. While Venezuelans who fled Maduro’s narco-terrorist regime cannot return home safely today, I know they await the day they can return to their beloved homeland. That is why it is critical that we continue working with our democratic allies to secure a Venezuela free from tyranny and ensure this temporary status in the U.S. does not become a permanent one.”
Rubio is the Ranking Member of the Senate Foreign Relations Subcommittee on Western Hemisphere, Transnational Crime, Civilian Security, Democracy, Human Rights, and Global Women’s Issues.

RUBIO APLAUDE LA DESIGNACIÓN DEL TPS PARA VENEZOLANOS ELEGIBLES EN EE. UU.
Miami, FL -.
