Rubio Welcomes Announcement of Remdesivir Shipment for Florida
Washington, D.C. — U.S. Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) welcomed the announcement that the federal government will be sending a shipment of 272 cases of Remdesivir to Florida this week. This supply will treat an estimated 1,813 patients hospitalized with COVID-19.
“In order for our hospitals to continue treating COVID-19 patients, it is vital that they are equipped with sufficient supplies of Remdesivir and PPE,” Rubio said. “I am pleased that the Administration continues to ensure that Florida’s hospitals and health care professionals receive the necessary federal resources to continue battling this pandemic on the front lines.”
On July 17, Rubio led the Florida congressional delegation in a letter to U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Alex Azar to increase allotments of Remdesivir to Florida as the state experiences a major increase in hospitalizations of patients afflicted with COVID-19.
