Rubio Visits Jacksonville, Tours Charter School, and Visits PPP Small Business Recipient
Jacksonville, FL — U.S. Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) visited Jacksonville Classical Academy, a trailblazing tuition-free public charter school, to learn about the school’s curriculum and philosophy. Rubio, a staunch supporter of safely reopening our nation’s schools to ensure in-person learning, toured the facility and met with media.
As the former Chairman of the U.S. Senate Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship and the author of the historic Paycheck Protection Program (PPP), Rubio also visited a local Small Business and PPP recipient in Jacksonville. Rethreaded employs 11 survivors of human trafficking and, thanks to PPP, was able to maintain these human trafficking survivors on their payroll amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Rethreaded provides direct employment to survivors to offer stability, healing, empowerment, education, and practical job skills. During his visit, Rubio recognized Rethreaded with the official Congressional Record acknowledging them as Small Business of the Week.
