Rubio Urges Biden to “Stop Moving Goalposts” on School Reopenings
Miami, FL — U.S. Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) urged President Joe Biden to move forward with his commitment to reopen U.S. schools within his first 100 days in office. Earlier this week, Rubio said no federal COVID-19 relief money should go to schools that are not reopening.
“The President promised to have schools open within his first 100 days, and now the Centers for Disease Control confirmed what many of us have known for a long time: our kids need to be in the classroom, not behind a computer screen,” Rubio said. “States have had months to prepare, vaccines are being distributed, and cases are declining, but the Biden Administration is now walking back its commitment. Stop moving the goalposts, Mr. President. There are absolutely no excuses for not reopening our schools.”
