Rubio Statement on Supreme Court Hearing for Florida-Georgia Apalachicola Water Case
Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) released the following statement ahead of today’s hearing before the U.S. Supreme Court of Florida v. Georgia regarding water flow into Florida’s Apalachicola Bay:
“Throughout my time in the Senate, I have sought to secure a long term solution to the deteriorating conditions of Apalachicola Bay, and the entire Apalachicola Chattahoochee Flint (ACF) River Basin. Hardworking families in Florida have depended on this treasured resource for generations, and they deserve a brighter economic future which can only be delivered with more downstream freshwater flow. I am hopeful that the Supreme Court will strongly consider the harm that Georgia’s gratuitous overconsumption of water from the ACF River Basin has had on northwest Florida’s environment and economy, and force Georgia to finally work with Florida and Alabama to equitably and durably resolve this issue once and for all.”
