Rubio Statement on Sanctions on 19 Russian Nationals

Mar 15, 2018 | Press Releases

Washington, D.C. — U.S. Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) released the following statement today after the Treasury Department sanctioned five entities and 19 individuals in Russia for meddling in the 2016 U.S. elections and for malicious cyberattacks:

“I strongly support the Administration’s new sanctions on Putin’s government. Interference in our elections and active measures to sow divisions and chaos inside our country must be met with swift and severe consequences. We need to do more. Congress should pass our bipartisan DETER Act to make clear that severe sanctions await any country that chooses to do what Putin did in 2016 and continues to do now.”‎
