Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) today welcomed House passage of the Weather Research and Forecasting Innovation Act (H.R. 353), which includes the Hurricane Forecast Improvement Act he first introduced in 2015. The bill now heads to the president’s desk to be signed into law.‎

“I applaud the House for passing the Hurricane Forecast Improvement Act, which will help us make needed improvements to our storm tracking,” said Rubio. “Once the president signs this legislation into law, families, business owners and others will have better, more accurate information to better prepare for approaching hurricanes and tropical storms.”

The Hurricane Forecast Improvement Act would codify the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s Hurricane Forecast Improvement Project, which aims to reduce the loss of life, injury, and damage to the economy by reducing errors of tracking and intensity forecasts.
