Rubio Names Haynes Security Services, Inc. as Senate Small Business of the Week
Washington, D.C. – This week, U.S. Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL), Chairman of the Senate Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship, named Haynes Security Services, Inc. as the U.S. Senate Small Business of the Week.
Senator Rubio’s video message can be viewed here. A broadcast quality version can be found here.
After naming Haynes Security Services as the Senate Small Business of the Week, Chairman Rubio said,
“As Chairman of the Senate Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship, it’s my pleasure to honor Haynes Security Services, Incorporated, of the Liberty City community in Miami, Florida, as the Senate Small Business of the Week.
“Last week I held a committee field hearing with community activists and advocates in Liberty City to discuss how small business policies and collaboration between federal and city agencies can encourage economic growth and upward mobility in our most vulnerable communities.
“At the hearing I also learned about Ed Haynes, who after spending six years in the United States Marine Corps, joined the Miami Shores Police Department and became the organization’s first African American police officer.
“In the early 1990s, Ed’s background and expertise led him into the private security industry where he worked before starting Haynes Security Services in 2011.
“From its beginnings as a small security firm, Haynes Security Services has grown into a full-service security company with thirty-five employees.
“A family run company, Ed relies on his wife Adriene, the Chief Financial Officer, and his daughters Chakara and Candyce, who provide human resource support and manage marketing for the company.
“Ed, Adriene, Chakara, Candyce, and the entire team at Haynes Security Services are a great example of the success that’s possible with a vision, hard work, and quality service.
“Haynes Security Services is testament to the impact that locally owned and operated small businesses can have on places like Liberty City, and I am proud to honor them as the Senate Small Business of the Week.”
Background:
Chairman Rubio learned about Edward “Ed” Haynes while holding a field hearing in the Liberty City community in Miami, Florida last week. Rubio was moved by Haynes Security Services’ impact on the Liberty City community and Ed’s dedication to his family, community, and employees. Haynes Security Services has grown from just one employee to thirty officers, yet it remains family-owned and operated, and rooted in Liberty City. Today, Haynes Security Services provides a wide range of security services, including: investigations, security consultations, executive protection, and electronic security solutions. In 2017, Ed and his team were named the Veteran-Owned Business of the Year by both the Small Business Administration South Florida District Office and the State of Florida.
As Chairman of the Senate Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship, Senator Rubio continues the tradition of honoring America’s small businesses and entrepreneurs. The Senate Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship oversees proposed legislation on matters relating to the Small Business Administration and investigates all problems relating to America’s small businesses.
