Rubio Mourns Loss of Highlands County Sheriff’s Deputy

May 7, 2018 | Press Releases

Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) released the following statement today regarding the death of Highlands County Sheriff’s Deputy William Gentry:

“Today, Jeanette and I join the Highlands County Sheriff’s Office in mourning the death of Deputy William Gentry. What should have been a routine visit ended up costing him his life. His murderer must be held accountable and be prosecuted as far as the law allows. This tragedy serves as a solemn reminder that when law enforcement officers put on their uniforms, it is done knowing that they may not come home. I stand behind the Thin Blue Line, and will be praying for Deputy Gentry’s family and the Highlands County Sheriff’s Office during this difficult time.”
