Rubio, Crapo Demand Answers on Anti-Second Amendment Practices

Jul 24, 2023 | Press Releases

Over the past year, several domestic shipping companies have chosen to prohibit the shipment of firearms, firearm parts, and ammunition. These decisions violate the Second Amendment and discriminate against law-abiding Americans’ right to keep and bear arms.

U.S. Senators Marco Rubio (R-FL), Mike Crapo (R-ID), and colleagues sent a letter to the CEOs of DHL, XPO Logistics, and Saia demanding answers for the companies’ decision to enact anti-Second Amendment policies. The letter further makes clear that Congress, not freight companies, are responsible for enacting Second Amendment-related policies.

Read the full text of the letters here.

  • “[DHL/XPO Logistics/Saia’s] policy is an affront to the Second Amendment and discriminates against the millions of law-abiding citizens, including many of our constituents, who utilize and value their constitutional right to keep and bear arms.
  • “When . . . freight carriers engage in policy making from the boardroom and implement discriminatory practices, they are interfering in the lawful commerce of firearms, limiting distribution and market access, resulting in fewer options and higher costs for businesses and consumers. But even more importantly, they are infringing on the constitutional right of law-abiding citizens to keep and bear arms enshrined in the Second Amendment.”
