Rubio, Coons y Colegas Presentan Resolución Bipartidista Celebrando 200 Años de Relaciones Bilaterales entre EE.UU. y Colombia
Washington, D.C. — Los senadores estadounidenses Marco Rubio (R-FL) y Chris Coons (D-DE) lideraron una resolución bipartidista que celebra el 200 años de las relaciones diplomáticas entre EE.UU. y Colombia. Los senadores Jim Risch (R-ID), Rick Scott (R-FL) y Ted Cruz (R-TX) son co-patrocinadores originales.
Los congresistas Albio Sires (D-NJ) y Mario Díaz-Balart presentaron la versión de la resolución en la Cámara de Representantes a principios de este año.
Específicamente, la resolución:
- Celebra 200 años de las relaciones diplomáticas entre EE.UU. y Colombia;
- Reconoce el rol fundamental de Colombia en el Hemisferio Occidental;
- Reconoce la alianza estratégica entre Colombia y Estados Unidos;
- Celebra las contribuciones hechas por los colombianos y los colombo-americanos a EE.UU.;
- Reafirma el firme apoyo del gobierno de EE.UU. al pueblo de Colombia en su búsqueda de la paz, la estabilidad y la prosperidad; y
- Fomenta la cooperación con Colombia en temas energéticos, nearshoring y protección de la democracia.
