Washington, D.C. Today, U.S. Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) released the following statement commemorating the 100th anniversary of the passage of the 19th amendment by the U.S. Senate and ahead of today’s vote on S.Res.212, a resolution Rubio cosponsored that celebrates this important anniversary:

“The ratification of the 19th Amendment marked the largest expansion of democracy in the history of our nation, and we are stronger today as a result. As we remember the Senate’s historic vote to give women the right to vote, we honor the tremendous sacrifices that brave suffragists made to secure that right. Their triumph for all women to secure basic rights of a democracy should inspire all of us to continue the uniquely American ideal of always striving for a more perfect Union.”
