Rubio Applauds Senate Passage of Bill to Guide Florida Agricultural Growers in Improving Florida’s Ecosystems
Washington, D.C. — U.S. Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) released a statement after the U.S. Senate passed the Growing Climate Solutions Act (S. 1251). In April, Rubio joined Senators Mike Braun (R-IN), Debbie Stabenow (D-MI), Lindsey Graham (R-SC), Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI), and others in introducing the bill, which will guide farmers, ranchers, and foresters in accessing voluntary environmental mitigation credit markets.
“Florida’s farmers, ranchers, and foresters are some of the best in the world,” Rubio said. “But they face serious challenges, including unfair foreign trade practices and an uncertain regulatory environment at home. The Growing Climate Solutions Act will help them identify alternative sources of income while at the same time empowering them to pursue efforts to restore Florida’s unique ecosystems and improve water quality. It is a commonsense step that will make a real difference for our state.”
The bill has broad support from more than 60 leading agricultural and environmental organizations.
