Miami, FL – Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) issued the following statement today after the NTSB announced the El Faro’s data recorder was successfully recovered late Monday evening:
“I applaud the investigative team’s hard work and quick recovery of the El Faro’s data recorder, which will help us better understand this tragedy and prevent losses like this in the future. It’s my hope this will help bring further closure to the families of those who were lost.”
In April, Rubio spoke on the Senate floor and thanked those involved in locating the El Faro’s data recorder.
In October 2015, the U.S. Senate passed a bipartisan resolution led by Rubio to honor and remember the thirty-three crew members lost at sea aboard the El Faro.
