Rubio Apoya Pasos para Invocar el TIAR en Apoyo a Venezuela
Washington, D.C. — El senador estadounidense Marco Rubio (R-FL) emitió hoy el siguiente comunicado tras el anuncio que la Organización de Estados Americanos (OEA) ha comenzado el proceso para invocar el Tratado Interamericano de Asistencia Recíproca, más conocido como el TIAR, en apoyo a la restauración del orden democrático y el estado de derecho en Venezuela. La medida se produce tras la solicitud del presidente interino de Venezuela Juan Guaidó, a la Asamblea Nacional de aprobar el regreso de Venezuela al Tratado Interamericano.
“Mientras Maduro y su régimen narcoterrorista continúa amenazando el orden democrático, la estabilidad y la prosperidad en la región, elogió la intención de la OEA de invocar el TIAR para contrarrestar la amenaza del régimen de Maduro. Es hora que todas las democracias en la región apoyen al pueblo venezolano y denuncien cualquier ataque del régimen de Maduro como un ataque contra todos los países miembros. Aplaudo el liderazgo del Embajador de los Estados Unidos ante la OEA Carlos Trujillo y la del Embajador de Venezuela ante la OEA Gustavo Tarre Briceño quienes han trabajado incansablemente en apoyo de la causa de liberar Venezuela de la tiranía”.
Rubio es el Presidente del Subcomité de Relaciones Exteriores para el Hemisferio Occidental, Delincuencia Transnacional, Seguridad Civil, Democracia, Derechos Humanos y Asuntos Globales de la Mujer.
