Washington, D.C. — U.S. Senator Marco Rubio, Chairman of the United States Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship, applauded the announcement by the Department of Energy will award 113 Phase II grants totaling $121 million to 103 small businesses in 29 states, including two Florida businesses, through the U.S. Small Business Administration’s (SBA) Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) programs.

“SBIR and STTR programs are critical in helping American businesses remain competitive in our 21st century economy,” Rubio said. “I am proud to see that two great Florida businesses will be receiving funding to assist in their research and development. I look forward to working with my colleagues to strengthen these programs as we work to reauthorize the Small Business Act for the first time in nearly two decades.”
