Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) released the following statement today after the Senate passed the Gold Star Families Voices Act (H.R. 4511), which would preserve the memories of fallen military personnel by collecting video and audio recordings of biographical histories from the immediate family members of servicemembers killed or missing in action:
“We owe the men and women of the Armed Forces a debt that we can never fully repay. Gold Star families carry an enormous burden every day, and one way we honor them and their loved ones is by remembering their sacrifices and keeping their memories alive.
"I'm proud to support the Gold Star Families Voices Act because it will document the life stories and legacies of these valiant men and women who gave their lives defending America. Providing their loved ones with the opportunity to honor the fallen and record their stories will help ensure we and our posterity better understand the experiences that shaped their lives and led them to serve their country as a uniformed member of the Armed Forces.”
