Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) issued the following statement today in advance of Thursday’s planned launch of the Orion spacecraft from Kennedy Space Center:
“The Orion launch marks an exciting new chapter for America’s space program and for Florida’s continuing role as the nation’s spaceport. For many decades, people have come to Cape Canaveral from all over the world to look up at our Florida skies and see the power of American innovation expand our frontiers and prove that Americans can do anything.
“I’m excited by what Orion means for the future of U.S. manned spaceflight and by its potential to inspire a new generation of Americans to take greater interest in science, technology, engineering and math. I congratulate all the engineers and workers who have labored for many years to get Orion ready, and wish them good luck on Thursday. I’ll be praying for a successful inaugural test flight and, of course, for clear skies to make this launch a reality.”
