Washington, D.C. - U.S. Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) issued the following statement today after Senate Democrats voted to block legislation that funds the government beyond September 30 and includes funding to combat the Zika virus:
"Today's vote proves some Senate Democrats are looking for any excuse to shut down the government because they think it will help them in the upcoming election. Bill Nelson and I came together to support this bill to fund the government and the fight against Zika, and Senate Democrats should follow our lead and quit playing political games."
Today marks the fourth time Senate Democrats blocked funding to fight the Zika virus.
