Help Us Improve the Bill
Apr 17 2013
On April 17, my colleagues and I introduced immigration legislation. It marked a first step toward achieving the strongest border security and enforcement measures in U.S. history, modernizing our legal immigration system to unleash strong economic growth and job creation, and dealing with our undocumented immigrant population in a tough, but fair way that is directly linked to achieving several security triggers.
While I believe this legislation will accomplish these things, I am also confident that an open and transparent process – one that engages every senator and the American people – will make it even better. I believe this kind of open debate is critical in helping the American people understand what’s in the bill, what it means for you and what it means for our future.
During my time in the Senate, many of you have written to me about your concerns with our immigration system. Today, I want to share this video with you in which I outline what this legislation sets out to do. And most importantly, I want to invite you to share your thoughts and submit your ideas below, on ways we can improve it.

What a disappointing piece of legislation! Legalization before enforcement? You gang members are going to hold us hostage and not fix the entry exit visa situation if we don't legalize millions of illegals currently here? Your going to give $150 million to groups that may have helped draft this bill to assist registering illegals with the Federal Government! This is the taxpayers money, build a road with it not aid and abet these illegals. Whats up with giving employers who knew they employed illegals a break again from any type of penalties? S744 will open the door to even more guest workers? I guess 20 million unemployed or under employed must not be enough suffering for these Americans so bring in more workers to compete for what ever scarce jobs we may still have. I could go on and on but this bill is another bad piece of legislation from a few out of touch politicians. Shame on all of you for choosing big business and and illegal aliens over the American citizen. And yes we can keep these illegals in the shadows.

Senator Rubio,
I see several problems with your amnesty bill. Illegals will just get a fake social security number they are already doing this. They should all be rounded up and deported they are a drain on our economy and our resources such as Medicaid, food stamps etc.
Why should we just accept them as the status quo? If you enter another country illegally you are taken to prison. So why are we rolling out the red carpet? Mexico tells their citizens how to come here and to apply for all assistance.
We are going broke and they contribute absolutely nothing. Our military men and women are coming home with no jobs and yet we want to give amnesty.

Illegal immagrents are just that "ILLEGAL" and should NOT be able to reap the benifits of american tax payers money but getting welfare and foodstamps or free medical care and educations. Our country has enough on it's plate right now and we don't need to take on more. Illegals should be deported and the money they would have gotten on welfare and such diverted to US citizens that are in need. I've been unemployed for 2 damn years and I can't get any assistance from the government except food stamps. I've got medical issues going untreated because I can't get medical assistance and I'm homeless and you want to help these 'poor' illegals? What are you thinking, don't you see how bad some of our own have it right now? If you want to introduce a bill we'll support then introduce one that slams shut our boarders to illegals. Our forefathers immigrated to the US LEGALLY and learned the ways of our country, they didn't try to bend this country to their ways by insisting we learn theirs. This is America, come here legally, learn english and our laws and abide by them or stay the hell where you are.

No Amnesty for these people. If they want to live in the USA come the Legel Way. I have a Mexican Grandson and Mother's family did the right way.

If you want to reform immigration laws that's fine BUT what is being discussed is amnesty. Enforce the laws we currently have, get the illegals out of our country, secure the border to stop it from starting again, THEN you can talk reform. Do what you were elected and sworn to do, enforce the laws and support the constitution of this country.
