Fighting for Florida

On April 17, my colleagues and I introduced immigration legislation. It marked a first step toward achieving the strongest border security and enforcement measures in U.S. history, modernizing our legal immigration system to unleash strong economic growth and job creation, and dealing with our undocumented immigrant population in a tough, but fair way that is directly linked to achieving several security triggers.

While I believe this legislation will accomplish these things, I am also confident that an open and transparent process – one that engages every senator and the American people – will make it even better. I believe this kind of open debate is critical in helping the American people understand what’s in the bill, what it means for you and what it means for our future.

During my time in the Senate, many of you have written to me about your concerns with our immigration system.  Today, I want to share this video with you in which I outline what this legislation sets out to do. And most importantly, I want to invite you to share your thoughts and submit your ideas below, on ways we can improve it.

This is a terrible bill. Scrap it start over in the open.

    1. Secure the borders
    2. No amnesty for anyone here illegally
    3. Streamline the process for legal immigrants
    4. No benefits for anyone here illegally
    5. Enforce the existing laws!

I agree with Derek Hunter at Townhall.com

*H1B visas is a simple fix that could be done tomorrow.

*Border security should be another no-brainer.

*Reforming and streamlining our current system could be done quickly and easily.

*No path to citizenship for illegals. Illegal immigrants broke the law, knowingly and willingly.

For a more detailed and well-defined plan, check out the suggestions from Derek Hunter here: http://townhall.com/columnists/derekhunter/2013/05/05/marco-rubio-wants-ideas-on-immigration-heres-a-few-n1587317

Absolutely first and foremost completely close the border. Allow immigrants to come through legal entrances as other legal ones have done. Take out all the slush fund provisions and the ability to change the requirements in the future.

    Mr.Rubio,

There are many thousands of people waiting in lines for green card from 12 years. The wait can be long with the existing system. First Fix the Existing Immigration system and clear the lines. After we have a working system we can add more people into the system. Doing it all at one shot might end up with much broken system with many millions frustrated.
    Suggestions:
    1) Green cards for all people who are living in country legally for about 10 years.
    2) Provide a path for Illegals to become legals gradually just not to overwhelm the system and immigration queues.

Sen Rubio , You are about to repeat history study the Reagan Bill, the only patr that worked was the Amnesty. It brought a tsunami of new illegals , waiting for the next amnesty which is about to happen . Enforce the existing , insist that the last Deal be straighten out before any new deal is made. Remember how the handed Bush 43 his head after he broke his no new Taxes pledge. There is a simple way to perfect Security with out a fence. Empower the tens of thousands of state and local Law enforcement officials to enforce the existing the existing Immigration Laws, require all aliens in the country to register with their whereabouts laws. You are a very naive to believe that past lawbreakers will obey new laws. The Government owes it to the people to protect our sovereignty , security our our economic well being . We have no room for illegals int today's ob market. And dont hand me that BS that Americans wont do the jobs that Illegals Do. Of Course not you are paying them not to work. wake up young man you are being duped by the greatest con men in the world.
