Fighting for Florida

On April 17, my colleagues and I introduced immigration legislation. It marked a first step toward achieving the strongest border security and enforcement measures in U.S. history, modernizing our legal immigration system to unleash strong economic growth and job creation, and dealing with our undocumented immigrant population in a tough, but fair way that is directly linked to achieving several security triggers.

While I believe this legislation will accomplish these things, I am also confident that an open and transparent process – one that engages every senator and the American people – will make it even better. I believe this kind of open debate is critical in helping the American people understand what’s in the bill, what it means for you and what it means for our future.

During my time in the Senate, many of you have written to me about your concerns with our immigration system.  Today, I want to share this video with you in which I outline what this legislation sets out to do. And most importantly, I want to invite you to share your thoughts and submit your ideas below, on ways we can improve it.

The border security has to be first. The E-Verify is essential. Farm help is a must. The Visa status is of great importance, as important as the border fence. Since Jano has so many problems with spelling & such, Ancestry.com has a great program that will take mispelled names in many forms. It is excellant. Then it is going to be tough to get all the persons off the welfare that have already been allowed on. This thing of allowing all these entitlements and having them fill out a voters card at the same time, is crazy. Things are way out of control. The thing that is needed most besides the fence & visa support, is a gov't ID card for the rest of us, and all cards should be coded for eligibilty to vote, that you are a citizen. When and if these persons become a citizen down the road, they will be able to get the Citizen ID Card. If you are a registered voter you get a little card for your wallet, but there is no picture on. The ID cards are sorely needed because there is so much fraud in the elections. Also, just because that person has earned his right to citizenship, the whole family should not be added. Each person needs to earn his way after the original person becomes a citizen. The BIRTHRIGHT babies need to be s topped too. At least one of the parents should already be a US citizen at the time of the birth. Not only are the illegals are giving birth, but the Maternity Hotel guests on Special Visa are claiming birthright for their babies. I really commend you for your work on this matter, but don't let the bullies try to change the seqeunce of events so that things get screwed up.

Secure the border and kick the illegal aliens out. No more amnesty.

If you think people will step up and obey this bill to pay fines and taxes, you're not being realistic. If people here illegally, they've broken the law. What makes you think the law means anything to them?

The bill needs to have one line in it:
THE BORDER MUST BE CLOSED TO ILLEGAL ENTRY.

    Then, enforce it.

No one have stated what this legislation will cost the taxpayers in the long term. We have millions of Citizen in our country out of work, why would we want to bring in more people? Employment training would be cheaper than keeping these people on welfare

Three Former Presidents deported millions of illegals to keep Americans working. I favor deportation...period. Please check your history books. We can and must deport these people or the this illegal situation will need to be revisted again. It is governmets responsility to protect our borders and it citizens. I will never vote for any legislator that votes for this bill.
