Fighting for Florida

On April 17, my colleagues and I introduced immigration legislation. It marked a first step toward achieving the strongest border security and enforcement measures in U.S. history, modernizing our legal immigration system to unleash strong economic growth and job creation, and dealing with our undocumented immigrant population in a tough, but fair way that is directly linked to achieving several security triggers.

While I believe this legislation will accomplish these things, I am also confident that an open and transparent process – one that engages every senator and the American people – will make it even better. I believe this kind of open debate is critical in helping the American people understand what’s in the bill, what it means for you and what it means for our future.

During my time in the Senate, many of you have written to me about your concerns with our immigration system.  Today, I want to share this video with you in which I outline what this legislation sets out to do. And most importantly, I want to invite you to share your thoughts and submit your ideas below, on ways we can improve it.

SQUARE ONE Mr. Rubio! Close our borders! Are we really in a position financially to allow millions onto the payroll? Are you falling into Obama's mold of the Spanish representative for his new world order? Illegal is just that ILLEGAL! Any softening of our immigration laws instead of enforcing our laws is wrong.

Absolutely NO AMNESTY. Those here ILLEGALLY are BREAKING OUR LAWS and do NOT DESERVE A REWARD FOR DOING SO. IF YOU BREAK OUR LAWS YOU DO NOT DESERVE THE BENEFITS. ABSOLUTELY NO GOVERNMENT FUNDS ? ASSISTANCE OF ANY KIND.

kill the bill we just need the current laws enforced. How the hell can you call us the land of laws when you do not enforce our laws.

NO BILL until illegals are identified and returned to their home country and the border is sealed.

I have a few questions for you about the immigration bill you are trying to push through. The republicans complain about obamacare, how it was pushed through. Aren't you trying to do the same with immigration, push it through?
-Of the 11-12 million illegals already here, how do you round them up?
-Do you really think if they are criminals, they are going to come forward?
-just like with gun control, the criminals are not going to come forward and turn themselves in
-Once they get into country with a visa, how do you track them, government can't track anything now. We are doing such a good job, hell, the FBI lets terrorists from other countries back in here all the time, on expired student visas, work visas, etc.
-I believe they should all have to go home, and come here legally, why do they get a free pass.
-When becoming a citizen, you need to learn English, write it and speak it. That has always been the requirement before, why not with anybody new now, meaning the illegals.
-How do you plan on securing the borders, not doing a very good job of it now. I don't think anybody really has a plan yet
-Isn't there a plan that anybody coming here illegally after 2012 can't stay. can you really say that you know who was before 2012 and who came here after 2012. That is kind of a joke, isn't it?
