PHOTOS: Following Big Wins for Florida’s Military Funding, Rubio Visits Tyndall Air Force Base
Tyndall AFB- U.S. Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) today visited Tyndall Air Force Base (AFB) to receive a briefing and meet with 325th Fighter Wing leadership, Colonels Brian Laidlaw and Matthew Jefson.
As a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, Rubio pushed for full funding of military construction projects for Florida’s military installations in the 2018 omnibus, including a project at Tyndall AFB from the Air Force’s unfunded requirements list. In 2017, following Rubio’s urging, the U.S. Air Force named Tyndall AFB the new MQ-9 Wing Base Y of the MQ-9 Reaper UAS.
“I was proud to visit our servicemen and women today at Tyndall Air Force Base following last week’s passage of the omnibus appropriations package that included critical funding for its mission and a pay raise for military personnel,” said Rubio. “Florida’s military installations play an important role in protecting the state and our nation from a myriad of threats. I had a productive meeting with 325th Fighter Wing leadership, and I reaffirmed my commitment to bolstering our nation’s defense and aiding our military to keep Americans safe.”
