On the Passing of Col. Bud Day

Aug 1, 2013 | Blog

Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Marco Rubio released the following statement on the passing of Col. Bud Day:

“With Col. Bud Day’s passing, America has lost one of its most decorated war heroes, and Florida has lost one of its most revered residents. Colonel Day fought valiantly and selflessly in Vietnam, earning the Medal of Honor for the bravery he displayed in escaping his captors after his plane was shot down in enemy territory. Among dozens of other honors throughout his service, he was also awarded the Air Force Cross for having withstood extraordinary torture and punishment at the hand of his captors in North Vietnam. Bud’s spirit of courage and self-sacrifice will remain an inspiration to anyone who aspires to serve the American people. Jeanette and I send our condolences to his family in this difficult time, and we join all the people of Florida in mourning this great loss.”
