El texto de la carta en inglés está Religious Freedom Restoration Act of 2012 has also earned the support and accolades of a series of groups concerned with the Obama Administration’s overreach into the lives of the American people.
MARJORIE DANNENFELSER, PRESIDENT OF THE SUSAN B. ANTHONY LIST: “Senator Rubio is a valiant defender of unborn children, their mothers, and the conscience rights of pro-life Americans. Just this week, Sen. Rubio introduced the Religious Freedom Restoration Act of 2012 to stop the Obama Administration’s radical attack on the First Amendment freedoms of Americans with the recent HHS contraceptive mandate. We look forward to Sen. Rubio’s continued pro-life leadership.”
RICHARD D. LAND, PRESIDENT, THE SOUTHERN BAPTIST ETHICS & RELIGIOUS LIBERTY COMMISSION: “We write to commend you for introducing the Religious Freedom Restoration Act of 2012, which would protect the right of conscience for employers to refuse to cover contraceptives, including abortion-causing drugs, and sterilization under their health insurance plans. The Southern Baptist Ethics & Religious Liberty Commission wholeheartedly supports this legislation. … We share your concern that the administration’s attempt to allay conscience concerns is simply unacceptable. … Again, thank you for your leadership in protecting Americans’ religious freedom against the contraceptives mandate.”
MANDI CAMPBELL, DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC POLICY, LIBERTY COUNSEL ACTION: “Liberty Counsel Action, on behalf of more than 750,000 members nationwide, would like to express support for the Religious Freedom Restoration Act of 2012. … [W]e appreciate the exemption that your bill provides to secure the consciences of those with deep and sincere religious convictions opposed to the coverage of contraceptives (especially those that act as abortifacients) and sterilization, the provision of which is currently mandated by the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. Thank you, Senator Rubio, for introducing the Religious Freedom Restoration Act of 2012.”
THE BECKET FUND FOR RELIGIOUS LIBERTY: “Unlike other pending bills that address conscience issues, Senator Rubio’s bill—The Religious Freedom Restoration Act of 2012—is narrowly focused and establishes a firm religious exemption in the insurance requirements imposed by the Affordable Care Act, rather than leaving it to the discretion of government bureaucrats. The bill ensures that no regulations under the health insurance reform law will force religious individuals to violate their religious beliefs by offering, providing, or purchasing insurance coverage for services that violate their beliefs, and forbids the government from imposing a penalty due to their religious conviction.”
HANNAH SMITH, SENIOR COUNSEL, THE BECKET FUND FOR RELIGIOUS LIBERTY: “Senator Rubio’s bill answers the call from religious individuals and groups across the country who are tired of an imperious government imposing ‘mandates’ on the American people … Rubio’s bill is a balanced approach that will prevent the government from penalizing those who are simply being true to their religious faith.”
