Senator Rubio On The Passing Of Enrique Ros
Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) issued the following statement regarding the loss of Enrique Ros. Rubio also recorded a statement in Spanish. A broadcast quality video for television is available here. An audio file is available here.:
“My wife Jeanette and I were saddened to learn about the passing of Enrique Ros, a beloved member of the Cuban exile community and father of the first female Hispanic-American in Congress, Ileana Ros-Lehtinen. Our condolences and prayers go out to Ileana and their entire family during this difficult time.
“For decades, Enrique Ros was one of the great intellectual forces of the Cuban exile community. He was a passionate defender of human rights, an advocate for the Cuban people’s freedom, and a true believer in the exceptional nation that welcomed him and his family and gave them a second chance at a better life.
“I was fortunate to get to know Enrique over the years and will forever be inspired by his civic involvement and love for America and the nation he left behind. He will be missed, but his legacy will live on through his family and through the countless people he inspired to serve this country and the cause of liberty in Cuba.”
