Senator Rubio Comments On Gulf Coast Claims Facility Audit
Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) issued the following statement today regarding initial findings announced by the Department of Justice about their audit of the Gulf Coast Claims Facility:
“On today’s two year anniversary of the oil spill, we are reminded of how much remains to be done to help residents along the Gulf Coast in their recovery efforts. While we still need to see the full report, I’m pleased that this audit is already beginning to correct many of the errors associated with the Gulf Coast Claims Facility.
“Because of this audit, we know that at least 7,000 claimants will now receive more than $64 million owed to them by the claims facility. Every dollar counts for these victims, and my hope is that these results will help the recovery efforts of those negatively impacted by the oil spill.
“But more must be done, and I will continue to work with my colleagues to return the RESTORE Act to its original purpose and signed into law as soon as possible.”
