Rubio, Warren Bill Honoring POW/MIA Service Members Passes Senate

Apr 14, 2016 | Comunicados de Prensa

Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) issued the following statement this evening regarding the Senate’s passage of the National POW/MIA Remembrance Act, which he co-sponsored with U.S. Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-MA), that will honor POW/MIA service members by placing a special chair in their honor in the U.S. Capitol:

“As the brother of a veteran and from a state with over one million veterans, I know firsthand the sacrifices that our men and women in uniform and their families make to keep our nation safe every single day of the year. I am proud to support this commemorative act to honor the thousands of POW and MIA service members and their families, all who have given so selflessly in service to our nation.

“Within the past year, multiple veterans service organizations, including Rolling Thunder, have visited my office to advocate for this bill on behalf of those who left this country to defend our freedoms abroad and never returned. I’m proud of the fact that when they visit, they are continually greeted by a black and white POW/MIA flag that always stands outside my office.

“Our POWs and MIAs have fought tirelessly so that we may live in peace, and it is our duty to ensure they are never forgotten. The chair that will be placed in the U.S. Capitol will serve as a constant reminder of their bravery and devotion to this great nation.”
