Rubio, Vance Reintroduce Bill To Empower Worker Voice
Employees who consider unionization are often dissuaded by the failures of Big Labor, which too often puts its political stances over workers’ best interests. Unfortunately, workers’ ability to effectively negotiate with employers is hampered by a regulatory regime that hasn’t changed since the Great Depression.
U.S. Senators Marco Rubio (R-FL) and J.D. Vance (R-OH) reintroduced the Teamwork for Employees and Managers Act of 2024 to give employees a voluntary opportunity to negotiate with employers on their own terms and without fear of legal action or bureaucratic meddling, a practice currently prohibited by existing labor laws. The TEAM Act would also give workers a presence on major corporate boards as nonvoting members.
- “Our collective bargaining system is supposed to ensure good worker conditions and compensation. Instead, it is putting millions of workers between a rock and a hard place: having to choose between no representation and woke union leadership. Employees deserve another option. This legislation would give workers that option, improve employee-management relations, and help deliver good workplaces.” – senador Rubio
Retrospectiva... Senator Rubio and Representative Jim Banks (R-IN) first introduced the TEAM Act in 2022.
