Feb 1, 2018 | Comunicados de Prensa

Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senators Marco Rubio (R-FL) and Bill Nelson (D-FL) urged Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Administrator Brock Long to keep them apprised of “changes to FEMA’s decisions as it relates to distributing emergency food and water aid in Puerto Rico.”

El full text of the letter is below:

Dear Administrator Long:

We appreciate today’s clarification stating the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) will continue to distribute supplies of food and water in Puerto Rico.

As you are well aware, it has been over four months since Hurricane Maria devastated Puerto Rico and many American citizens on the island are still without power and clean water. Puerto Ricans living in rural areas continue to rely heavily on commodities supplied and distributed by FEMA for their basic, day-to-day needs. Clarifying that FEMA will continue providing these much needed supplies is a welcome message to Puerto Ricans that our federal government remains committed to its people.

We urge you to keep us apprised of any changes to FEMA’s decisions as it relates to distributing emergency food and water aid in Puerto Rico. Thank you for your attention to this important matter.

Atentamente,
