Rubio Honors the Life And Legacy of Arnold Palmer
Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) issued the following statement today honoring the life and legacy of golfing legend Arnold Palmer:
“Arnold Palmer was one of the greats of golf and of life, and we are honored that for part of the year he called Central Florida home. He left such an indelible mark on our state and country, including through his tournament at Bay Hill, which raised millions of dollars for charity. His personal support for the Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children and the Winnie Palmer Hospital for Women and Babies helped so many, and changed the Orlando area for the better.
“A recipient of both the Presidential Medal of Freedom and the Congressional Gold Medal, Arnie was beloved by millions of people for his passion and excellence on the course – and the greatness of his heart off of it. He may have an incredible 92 victories to his name, but it was his warm smile and magnetic personality that helped grow the game of golf into what it is today. He leaves a tremendous legacy on and off the course, and his passing will no doubt be honored across America with many a glass of lemonade and iced tea raised in his name.
“Arnold Palmer was true gentleman and will be missed greatly. The King lived a life well played.”
