Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) today announced that World War II veteran, Sydney Levit of Aventura, Florida will be his official guest at a Joint Meeting of Congress with President of the French Republic, Emmanuel Macron tomorrow. During World War II, while serving as a Paratrooper in the 17th Airborne Division of the U.S. Army, Mr. Levit fought to liberate the French people while under the command of General George Patton and endured various European campaigns while earning two Bronze Stars and a Purple Heart. For his service, he received the French Legion of Honour, the highest order of merit for military and civil merits.
“I’m honored that Floridian Sydney Levit will join us in the Capitol tomorrow as President Macron of France addresses Congress, and it is particularly special given his service in France during World War II,” said Rubio. “Sydney and other members of the Greatest Generation rose to the occasion and led our nation to victory in World War II, and it is because of the sacrifices of men like him that we continue to enjoy the blessings of liberty and democracy.”
