Photos: Rubio Surveys Hurricane Michael Damage, Meets with Local Officials in Apalachicola, Port St. Joe, Wewahitchka & Blountstown

Oct 16, 2018 | Comunicados de Prensa

Blountstown, FL – Today, six days after Major Hurricane Michael made landfall, U.S. Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) was in Apalachicola, Port St. Joe, Wewahitchka and Blountstown to survey the damage and discuss ongoing recovery efforts with local officials.
“Seeing firsthand the businesses that were flooded in Apalachicola, the thousands of homes damaged or lost in southern Gulf County, and the storm’s tremendous impact in northern Gulf and Calhoun, we are reminded that we have a long road ahead of us. The goal is to make sure every day is a little better than the day before,” Rubio said. “The federal government is closely coordinating with state and local authorities to direct vital resources to many of these hard-to-access rural communities. I remain committed to ensuring the Panhandle receives all the federal resources it needs to recover fully.”
