PHOTO: In Visit with Collier County Officials, Rubio Discussed Disaster Relief for Florida
Naples, FL – U.S. Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) today met with Collier County officials in Naples to discuss ongoing disaster relief efforts and to reiterate his commitment to ensuring Florida’s agriculture industry receives sufficient disaster relief resources in the aftermath of Hurricane Irma.
“I had a productive meeting today with officials in Collier County to discuss hurricane recovery efforts such as debris removal and disaster relief for Florida farmers,” said Rubio. “Florida agriculture, particularly our iconic citrus industry, was devastated by Hurricane Irma, and I will continue working with my colleagues in Congress to ensure that we deliver much-needed support for hard-hit Florida growers in the next supplemental disaster relief funding package.”
Last month, Rubio stated that the Office of Management and Budget’s (OMB) proposed disaster supplemental was unacceptable for Florida farmers. In October, Rubio led nearly all members of the Florida congressional delegation in urging the leaders of the Senate and House appropriations committees to provide additional resources for hurricane recovery efforts in Florida. In September, Rubio visitó Collier, Lee, Polk and Palm Beach Counties after Hurricane Irma, while staff hosted hurricane recovery assistance centers in the Florida Keys, Miami, St. Augustine, Jacksonville, Fort Myers, Naples y Immokalee.
