Washington, D.C. – On Wednesday, April 13, U.S. Senator Marco Rubio will deliver remarks at the official unveiling of the Congressional Gold Medal for the 65th Infantry Regiment “Borinqueneers.” The Congressional Gold Medal was designated for the Borinqueneers in June of 2014 when President Obama signed a law that Rubio originally co-sponsored in the Senate.
The Borinqueneers were a segregated Hispanic unit, comprised of mostly Puerto Rican soldiers, who served in World War I, World War II and the Korean War.
