Washington, D.C.— U.S. Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) issued the following statement after President Donald Trump nominated U.S. Permanent Representative to the Organization of American States (OAS) Carlos Trujillo to serve as the next Assistant Secretary for the Western Hemisphere, as well as a Member of the Board of Directors of the Inter-American Foundation:
“Few individuals understand the ongoing complexities and threats our region is currently facing like Ambassador Trujillo,” Rubio said. “Ambassador Trujillo dutifully represents America’s interests at the OAS and advocates for human rights, democracy, and regional stability. I have worked closely with Ambassador Trujillo for many years and have no doubt he will faithfully continue to represent the United States as Assistant Secretary of State for the Western Hemisphere. I look forward to his nomination hearing and continuing the important work ahead on behalf of the American people.”
Rubio is the Chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Subcommittee on Western Hemisphere, Transnational Crime, Civilian Security, Democracy, Human Rights, and Global Women’s Issues.

RUBIO SOBRE LA NOMINACIÓN DEL EMBAJADOR TRUJILLO COMO SUBSECRETARIO DE ESTADO PARA ASUNTOS DEL HEMISFERIO OCCIDENTAL
Washington, D.C.— El senador estadounidense Marco Rubio (R-FL) emitió el siguiente comunicado después que el presidente Donald Trump nominara al Representante Permanente de los Estados Unidos ante la Organización de los Estados Americanos (OEA) Carlos Trujillo para ser el próximo Subsecretario del Departamento de Estado para Asuntos del Hemisferio Occidental y miembro de la Junta Directiva de la Fundación Interamericana:
“Pocas personas entienden las complejidades y amenazas que nuestra región enfrenta actualmente como el embajador Trujillo”, Rubio dijo. “El embajador Trujillo representa esmeradamente los intereses de los Estados Unidos en la OEA y aboga por la defensa de los derechos humanos, la democracia y la estabilidad regional. He trabajado estrechamente con el embajador Trujillo durante varios años y no tengo duda que seguirá representando fielmente a los Estados Unidos como Subsecretario para Asuntos del Hemisferio Occidental del Departamento de Estado. Espero con interés la audiencia de nominación del embajador Trujillo para poder continuar el importante trabajo en representación del pueblo estadounidense “.
Rubio es el presidente del Subcomité de Relaciones Exteriores para el Hemisferio Occidental, Delincuencia Transnacional, Seguridad Civil, Democracia, Derechos Humanos y Asuntos Globales de la Mujer.
