Washington, D.C – U.S. Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL), Chairman of the Foreign Relations Subcommittee on Western Hemisphere, Transnational Crime, Civilian Security, Democracy, Human Rights, and Global Women’s Issues, today released the following statement after meeting with newly appointed Venezuelan Chargé d’affaires Carlos Vecchio, OAS Special Representative Gustavo Tarre Briceño, Congressman and Ambassador to the Lima Group Julio Borges, the Coordinator of the OAS Working Group David Smolansky, Congressman José Manuel Olivares, and Francisco Márquez:
“The U.S. stands in support of Provisional President Juan Guaidó and his newly appointed emissaries to the U.S., Carlos Vecchio and Gustavo Tarre Briceño. As Venezuela’s road to democracy begins, the U.S. and its regional allies have a duty to support their restoration of democratic order and freedom. I will continue to work closely with the Trump Administration, which has shown tremendous leadership advocating for the Venezuelan people.”

Washington, D.C – El senador estadounidense Marco Rubio (R-FL), Presidente del Subcomité de Relaciones Exteriores para el Hemisferio Occidental, Delincuencia Transnacional, Seguridad Civil, Democracia, Derechos Humanos y Asuntos Globales de la Mujer, hoy emitió el siguiente comunicado tras reunirse con el encargado de negocios de Venezuela Carlos Vecchio, el representante especial ante la OEA Gustavo Tarre Briceño, el Diputado y Embajador ante el Grupo de Lima Julio Borges, el Coordinador del Grupo de Trabajo de la OEA David Smolansky, el Diputado José Manuel Olivares, y Francisco Márquez:
 
“Los Estados Unidos apoya al presidente provisional de Venezuela Juan Guaidó y a sus nuevos emisarios ante los Estados Unidos, Carlos Vecchio y Gustavo Tarre Briceño. Mientras Venezuela comienza su camino hacia el retorno de la democracia, EE.UU. y sus aliados regionales tienen el deber de apoyar su transición al retorno del orden democrático y la libertad. Continuaré trabajando estrechamente con la administración del presidente Trump, la cual ha demostrado un gran liderazgo en defensa del pueblo venezolano”.
