RUBIO MEETS REGIONAL LEADERS TO DISCUSS CHALLENGES AND OPPORTUNITIES AT SUMMIT OF THE AMERICAS
Lima, Peru – U.S. Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL), a member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, traveled to Lima, Peru to meet with leaders of the region surrounding the 8th Summit of the Americas. He met with Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Hugo de Zela Martínez of Peru, President Juan Orlando Hernández of Honduras, President Mauricio Macri of Argentina, President Jovenel Moise of Haiti and U.S. Ambassador to the Organization of American States (OAS) Carlos Trujillo to discuss their continued commitment to the region, to strengthening our bilateral relations, and to restoring democracy and human rights in Venezuela and Cuba.
Last week Rubio convened a hearing titled “A Regional Strategy for Democratic Governance Against Corruption in the Hemisphere” ahead of the Summit of the Americas.

RUBIO SE REÚNE CON LÍDERES REGIONALES PARA DISCUTIR DESAFÍOS Y OPORTUNIDADES EN LA VIII CUMBRE DE LAS AMÉRICAS
Lima, Perú – El senador estadounidense Marco Rubio (R-FL), miembro del Comité de Relaciones Exteriores del Senado, viajó a Lima, Perú, para reunirse con líderes de la región en torno a la VIII Cumbre de las Américas. Se reunió con el Viceministro Embajador Hugo de Zela Martínez de Perú, el Presidente Juan Orlando Hernández de Honduras, el Presidente Mauricio Macri de Argentina, el Presidente Jovenel Moise de Haiti y el embajador en la Organización de los Estados Americanos (OEA) Carlos Trujillo para hablar sobre su continuo compromiso con la región, el fortalecimiento de las relaciones bilaterales, y la restauración de la democracia y derechos humanos en Venezuela y Cuba.
La semana pasada, Rubio convocó una audiencia titulada “Una estrategia regional para la gobernabilidad democrática contra la corrupción en el Hemisferio” antes de la Cumbre de las Américas.
