English/Español: Rubio Commends Trump Administration’s Move to Hold Cuba Accountable
Washington, D.C. — U.S. Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) today issued the following statement commending President Trump’s decision to stop suspending Title III of the Helms-Burton Libertad Act, holding the Cuban regime accountable for its crimes and ending years of impunity:
“By no longer suspending Title III of the Libertad Act, the Trump administration is ending decades of impunity by the Castro regime. The United States is opening the door to justice and enabling victims of the Cuban dictatorship to rightfully sue their perpetrators. Today, as we commemorate the valor of the fallen heroes in the Bay of Pigs invasion, history is once again being written.”
Rubio is the Chairman of the Foreign Relations Subcommittee on Western Hemisphere, Transnational Crime, Civilian Security, Democracy, Human Rights, and Global Women’s Issues.
