As rescue operations, debris removal, and power restoration continue on the ground, U.S. Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) is preparing to push a major disaster supplemental spending measure through Congress. He and U.S. Representative Mario Díaz-Balart (R-FL) joined the U.S. Coast Guard to survey the catastrophic damage in Charlotte and Lee Counties. Video from the flight is available here.
Prior to the flight, Rubio sent a letter to his colleagues on the Senate Committee on Appropriations emphasizing the importance of a “robust and timely federal response … to ensure that sufficient resources are provided to rebuild critical infrastructure and public services capacity, and to assist our fellow Floridians in rebuilding their lives.”
