English/Español: During Official Trip to San Juan, Rubio, Congresswoman González-Colón Met with USCG and Toured Local Small Business
Miami, FL — Yesterday, U.S. Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) and Congresswoman Jenniffer González-Colón (R-PR) conducted an official visit to San Juan, Puerto Rico where they met with members of the United States Coast Guard Sector San Juan. They received an update of the ongoing counternarcotic efforts on the island as well as the state of recovery efforts following Hurricanes Irma and Maria.
Rubio and González-Colón also visited a small business, Papos Guacaros Place, in the municipality of Dorado. Papos Place fed local police officers and the barrio of Mameyal for two weeks following the aftermath of Hurricane Maria. The legislators also met with Cuban and Venezuelan nationals who are currently living in Puerto Rico. During the meeting, Rubio reiterated his support for the interim government of Juan Guaidó and the restoration of democracy and human rights in Cuba.
Rubio is Chairman of the Senate Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship and Chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Subcommittee on Western Hemisphere, Transnational Crime, Civilian Security, Democracy, Human Rights, and Global Women’s Issues.

Miami, FL — Ayer, el senador estadounidense Marco Rubio (R-FL) y la congresista Jenniffer González-Colón (R-PR) realizaron una visita oficial a San Juan, Puerto Rico, donde se reunieron con miembros de la Guardia Costera de los Estados Unidos Sector San Juan. Rubio y González-Colón recibieron una actualización de los esfuerzos antinarcóticos en la isla y sobre el estado de los esfuerzos de recuperación tras el paso de los huracanes Irma y María.
Rubio y González-Colón también visitaron una pequeña empresa local, Papos Guacaros Place, en el municipio de Dorado. Papos Place alimentó a los oficiales de la policía y al barrio de Mameyal por dos semanas tras el paso del huracán María. Los legisladores también se reunieron con un grupo de cubanos y venezolanos quienes viven en Puerto Rico. Durante el encuentro, Rubio reiteró su apoyo al gobierno interino del presidente Juan Guaidó y a la restauración de la democracia y los derechos humanos en Cuba.
Rubio es presidente del Comité Senatorial de Pequeñas Empresas y es presidente del Subcomité del Hemisferio Occidental, Delincuencia Transnacional, Seguridad Civil, Democracia, Derechos Humanos y Asuntos Mundiales de la Mujer.
