Kissimmee, FL – One year after Hurricane Maria devastated Puerto Rico, U.S. Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) today hosted a roundtable discussion on continued recovery efforts in Puerto Rico with local elected officials and community members.
“While significant challenges remain in the recovery and rebuilding of Puerto Rico, I remain committed to supporting the long-term stability of our fellow Americans on the island,” Rubio said. “I’m encouraged by today’s roundtable with local officials and community members in Kissimmee, where I reiterated my commitment to ongoing recovery efforts and heard more about the challenges they still face.”
Yesterday, Rubio urged President Trump to renew his commitment to Puerto Rico’s recovery. Earlier this week, he introduced a resolution to recognize the one year anniversary of Hurricane Maria’s landfall and reaffirm the Senate’s commitment to support the people of Puerto Rico and the United States Virgin Islands as they continue to rebuild and recover from the devastation of the storm.

Kissimmee, FL – Un año después de que el Huracán María devastara a Puerto Rico, el senador estadounidense Marco Rubio (R-FL) organizó hoy una mesa redonda sobre los continuos esfuerzos de recuperación en la isla con funcionarios locales y miembros de la comunidad.
“Aunque aún existen desafíos importantes en la recuperación y reconstrucción de Puerto Rico, sigo comprometido en apoyar a la estabilidad a largo plazo de nuestros compatriotas en la isla”, dijo Rubio. “Me siento alentado tras la charla de hoy con funcionarios locales y miembros de la comunidad en Kissimmee, donde reiteré mi compromiso con los esfuerzos de recuperación y escuché más sobre los desafíos que siguen enfrentando”.
Ayer, Rubio instó al presidente Trump a renovar su compromiso con la recuperación de Puerto Rico. A principios de esta semana, Rubio presentó una resolución para conmemorar el primer aniversario del paso del Huracán María y reafirmó el compromiso del Senado con la población de Puerto Rico y las Islas Vírgenes de los Estados Unidos mientras continúan recuperándose de la devastación causada por la tormenta.
