Chairman Rubio’s Statement on Senate Democrats Continued Obstruction of PPP Relief for Small Businesses
Washington, D.C. — U.S. Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL), Chairman of the Senate Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship, issued a statement after Senate Democrats voted against additional small business relief, including another round of Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) funding.
“As the coronavirus pushed our economy into freefall, Congress came together in bipartisan fashion to pass a lifeline to small businesses and keep workers connected to their employer,” Chairman Rubio said. “The Paycheck Protection Program has now run out for most businesses and employment growth has fallen flat. Today, as small businesses across the country quietly close their doors, Senate Democratic leadership engaged in another cynical political game, using small businesses and working families as their ‘leverage.’ Continuing to do nothing is not an option.”
The Continuing Paycheck Protection Program Act is supported by the American Hotel and Lodging Association, the International Franchise Association, National Federation of Independent Businesses, the National Restaurant Association, and the SBE Council.
