“Gold is becoming the preferred method for drug cartels, terrorists, and dictatorships to launder their dirty money, an issue that the U.S. Embassy in Peru has focused on. Embassy staff was gracious enough to give me a detailed briefing on regional efforts to identify, prevent, and counter this illicit activity. I’m thankful to the Embassy officials for the briefing and all their hard work as they advance our partnership and mutual interests with the Peruvian government and people. The Trump Administration has already begun to prosecute these international criminals and I will continue to encourage them to work with our regional allies to combat it.”
