Rubio Praises House Republican Budget As Serious Plan To Grow Economy, Solve Debt Problem
Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) issued the following statement regarding today’s introduction of the House Republican budget:
“Paul Ryan and House Republicans have once again offered serious solutions to our nation’s growing debt and challenging job market. We need to save our Medicare and Social Security programs, and this is a way to do it without affecting current retirees like my mom or those who are close to retiring. This plan is also right to call for the end of ObamaCare, which will only become a bigger job-destroying and debt-busting nightmare as it is implemented. To accept that ObamaCare is here to stay is to accept another anchor that threatens to sink our kids’ dreams.
“The American people deserve to have their tax dollars used responsibly, which will never happen without a disciplined spending plan that balances our budget by promoting economic growth and slowing Washington’s spending. With the plan proposed today, House Republicans have again demonstrated real leadership to reduce the crushing weight of government, spur real economic growth and provide better jobs for America’s emerging middle class.
“This should mark the beginning of a serious adult conversation about our nation’s finances and our kids’ future, instead of the senior scare spectacles that have been the norm in recent years. Unfortunately, from what we already know about the Senate Democrat budget, they’re proposing over a trillion dollars in tax increases that will kill jobs and make it harder for job creators to do what they do best. The Senate Democrat budget also makes no attempt to balance the budget, meaning it will only continue the steady increase of our burgeoning national debt.”
